Interning at BS&P by Erin Graff
I will admit I was nervous and intimidated coming into the office for my first day. I had little previous accounting experience and was only finishing up my junior year. The partners and other staff made me feel comfortable right away. I received ample training to help prepare me for the work I was going to be doing. I encountered a few problems with my first few returns, as to be expected, but whoever reviewed them was extremely patient with me and explained to me why the changes needed to be made. The internship was truly a learning experience and it was great to be able to apply the skills I learned in college. I was nervous about the time commitment due to all the other activities I was involved in. I held another part-time job during tax season, was in a business fraternity and involved in various clubs. BS&P was flexible with my hours and understood that school was my first priority. If I had an exam to study for or needed to attend a professional event, my manager was more than willing to figure out when I could make up the hours. The laid back atmosphere at the firm is great and truly makes you want to work harder and excel at the work you do.
