Our firm is proud to announce the winner of our 2016 BS&P chili cook-off! Congratulations to Director of Human Resources, Caroline Organ for receiving the “Best Chili” award for her “Kickin’ Chili”.
The competition was very close and Partners Ray Crane, Dave Di Matteo, Kevin Majchrowicz, Dave Nelson and Jim Sabo had a tough time judging as all of the entries were delicious. Congratulations also goes out to Firm Administrator, Jim Ahne for coming in second.
Caroline’s “Kickin’ Chili” Recipe
- 2 lbs. ground beef
- 1 lb. sirloin steak (cut into small pieces)
- 2 mid-sized onions
- 1 green pepper
- 4 jalapenos
- 1 can of kidney beans
- 1 can of black beans
- 1 can of cannellini beans
- 1 can of tomato paste
- 1 large can of crushed tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- 2 teaspoons of chili powder
- Salt/pepper to taste
Recommended toppings: Shredded sharp cheddar cheese and sour cream
1.) Brown the ground beef in a pan.
2.) Chop the onions and jalapenos. Cut the green peppers into small pieces. Add the onions, jalapenos and peppers to the ground beef and let simmer.
3.) Add the tomato paste and crushed tomatoes, mix thoroughly.
4.) Add the brown sugar, cumin, chili powder and salt/pepper.
5.) Add the kidney beans, black beans and cannellini beans.
6.) Add the sirloin steak.
7.) Cook thoroughly on low heat for 1.5 hours, stirring periodically.
8.) Enjoy with shredded cheese and sour cream on top
