Governor Cuomo released finalized materials and guidance on New York’s sexual harassment prevention laws. All employees working in New York State must now receive sexual harassment training by or before October 9, 2019 instead of January 1, 2019 as the draft guidance previously suggested. New employees should be trained as quickly as possible. In addition, all employees must complete sexual harassment prevention training at least once per year.
Every employer in New York State is required to adopt and provide a sexual harassment prevention policy to all employees by October 9, 2018. An employer can use New York State’s model policy or their own policy as long as it meets or exceeds the minimum standards set by the State.
In order to help employers become compliant with the new laws, our firm is offering customized interactive sexual harassment training performed by a professional who has experience in this area.
